Mexican Senator Indira Kempis Martínez has been an advocate of Bitcoin for over a year. Earlier this month, Kempis Martínez visited El Salvador and considered the possibility of Bitcoin bein installed as a legal tender in Mexico as well.

In October 2021, the senator congratulated El Salvador on its decision to make Bitcoin a national currency, as valid as the dollar. She openly disagreed with the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who denounced the decision, declaring that it would not happen in Mexico.

Accompanying an image of her standing by the door of a Bitcoin exchange, Senator Kempis Martínez wrote the caption:

“Laws are the last to find out about reality. The future reaches out and overtakes. I have proof, and I have no doubts.”

The senator saw El Salvador as an excellent example and praised the country’s actions. She also thanked the government of president Bukele for “opening the door and sharing a vision.”
