We all know that organizing a perfect wedding in real life can be extremely complicated and challenging. Well, organizing a wedding in a the metaverse turns out to be even more tricky. One couple from Arizona, Ryan and Candice Hurley, shared their experience about the first wedding to take place in the metaverse.

It should be stated that the Hurleys have already been married for 14 years, but that didn’t stop them from having a huge party in Decentraland with 2000 guests.

As is customary, the couple received NFT gifts, as well as having contractually married virtual identities recorded on the blockchain.

The occasion didn’t go by completely without issue. As they say, the first pancake is always a dud. Fortunately, nothing catastrophic happened. The most egregious issue was that Candice’s avatar wasn’t visible for some guests. Depending on which server users were connected to, some attendees either saw the bride in her intended wedding dress, while others saw a rather unceremonious hoodie.

Indeed, Decentraland seemingly struggled to handle the sheer number of users all in one place. That does comes as a surprise as the metaverse has previously handled large conferences with excessive attendee numbers.
