• The XRP Ledger is introducing XRPL Gamechain, a specialised gaming sidechain developed by B3 and XRPL Commons to bring on-chain gaming experiences directly to the XRPL ecosystem.
  • The initiative features Xcade, a mobile-friendly arcade platform with five fast-paced games designed to engage users through challenges, tournaments, and rewards within the XRP ecosystem.
  • According to B3 co-founder Viktoriya Hying, on-chain gaming creates the most successful way for users to participate meaningfully in blockchain through fun, frictionless experiences.
  • Players will earn XRP through gameplay while the platform plans weekly updates, though XRP’s price showed minimal reaction with only a 1% rise following the announcement.

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) is getting its own dedicated gaming space with the creation of the XRPL Gamechain. The gamechain is a new initiative unveiled by B3 and XRPL Commons. It introduces on-chain gaming experiences built directly on the XRPL – the blockchain behind the third-largest cryptocurrency, XRP.

One of its key implementations is Xcade, an arcade-style, mobile-friendly platform featuring quick-paced games designed to engage users within the XRPL ecosystem through challenges and rewards.

Gaming and Blockchain

Viktoriya Hying, a co-founder of NPC Labs, the creator of B3, told crypto outlet Decrypt about the link between gaming and blockchain.

“Gaming is universal to all of us. We have games on our phones we play now, or grew up playing video games as kids,” Hying said.

On the relevance of on-chain gaming, Hying added:

Through our own research conducted when we were at Coinbase, the team realized the most successful way to have users participate and engage more meaningfully on-chain is through creating fun, frictionless, and novel experiences. On-chain games allow for that.

The XRPL Gamechain will be a sidechain tailored for gaming, leveraging XRPL’s inherent strengths – speed, low fees, and scalability – while enabling game-specific functionality.

XRPL sidechains in general are independent ledgers with their own consensus mechanisms and rules, running parallel to the main XRPL. They can be customised for specialised applications – like gaming – without burdening the main chain.

Gamechain will launch first in testnet with Xcade, with five fast-paced titles, ahead of a full release in Q.4.

Fun Times at the XRPL

Hying said the goal is to make “participating on-chain and on the XRP Ledger accessible, fun, and entertaining,” with weekly catalog updates planned “so there’s always new games to play, fun to have, and ways to participate in the XRP ecosystem outside of just holding the token.”

Players will be able to earn XRP through challenges, tournaments, and game nights, an option made possible by the new XRPL EVM sidechain. B3 and XRPL Commons hope this will drive activity and add utility to XRP.

XRP’s reaction to the news wasn’t immediate, with a price rise of just 1% over the past 24 hours. At the time of writing, XRP trades for US$2.83 (AU$4.34), down 22% from its all-time high of US$3.65 (AU$5.60) set in July 2025.
